New Yorkers looking to get a municipal identification card will also get free memberships to 33 city cultural institutions.
Mayor Bill de Blasio says the incentive will be good for one year.
It will also give carriers access to special events and discounts to museum shops.
The IDs were designed for the city’s 500,000 undocumented immigrants.
New York is not the only city to offer freebies to those who get the municipal IDs.
San Francisco offers discounts at the city’s golf courses, museums and participating restaurants.
In New Haven, ID cards are set to be reloadable for downtown parking and shopping.
The city’s new municipal ID program is scheduled to launch in January 2015.
