Striking McDonald’s employees arrested in Times Square

More than a dozen disgruntled McDonald’s employees went on strike outside of the fast food giant in Times Square Thursday and were arrested — after they sat in the middle of the street, blocking rush-hour traffic, cops said.

“We know that we have momentum on our side. We know that people like you have our backs. And this Thursday we are committed to do WHATEVER IT TAKES to win $ 15 an hour and the right to form a union without retaliation,” according to a post on NYWorkersRising.org, a website for organizing strikes stated.

The workers, 14 men, and five women, participated in the “Rally for Fast Food Workers” outside the restaurant on 42nd Street near Seventh Avenue around 7:50 a.m. but took it to the street where they set up shop in protest, according to police.

Oncoming cars had to maneuver their way around the mischievous group but there were no reported injuries or accidents, authorities said.
