Latest Winter Storm Causing Icy Commute

New Yorkers are facing yet another blast of winter as a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain is making for a slow go this morning.

A winter storm warning is in effect for the city until 6 p.m. and the Sanitation Department has issued a snow alert.

Alternate side of the street parking rules are suspended again today, but drivers will have to feed the meters.

Garbage and recycling pickup will be delayed because of the snow.

The city’s Office of Emergency Management has issued a Hazardous Travel Advisory and is urging drivers and pedestrians to use caution on city streets and roads.

The MTA says its Cold Weather Plan is in effect, meaning there are service changes on some subway lines.

Due to signal problems, there are no 1, 2, and 3 trains between 72 Street and 125th Street in both directions.

There are also reported delays on the 4, 5, 6, G, N and Q trains.

Bus service is running at 80 to 90 percent and some suspensions are possible.

Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coastline branches of New Jersey Transit are suspended due to heavy ice on overhead wires.

The Long Island Rail Road is reporting good service on most lines but there are service changes on Metro-North.

The weather is already causing cancellations on departures and arrivals at the three area airports.

Passengers should check with their individual carrier before heading out.
