Pot-loving subway vigilante Bernie Goetz took aim at the Manhattan DA Thursday, saying he should follow in the footsteps of his counterpart in Brooklyn and no longer prosecute small-scale marijuana possession cases.
“I think that sets a good example. If the district attorney of Manhattan wants to make the right political move and be popular, he would do the same thing,” Goetz, 66, said of Cyrus Vance Jr. as he noted an article in Wednesday’s Post on Brooklyn DA Kenneth Thompson’s memo that his office will no longer prosecute mere potheads.
“All minor marijuana arrests should simply be dismissed,” the memo read.
Goetz, who became famous after he shot four black teens on a No. 2 train in 1984 saying he believed they were going to mug him, went on a pro-drug rant after his brief Manhattan Supreme Court appearance on charges he peddled $ 30 of pot to a cop in November.
