Joseph Junkovic, 49, the operator of a bogus Bronx nonprofit with state contracts to provide cancer screenings for poor New Yorkers, copped Thursday to spending more than $ 360,000 in taxpayer money on long European vacations and casino gambling instead, authorities said.


“Joseph Junkovic . . . cynically exploited individuals in need of potentially lifesaving services,” Manhattan U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara said when Junkovic was charged in 2013.


Junkovic pleaded guilty to making false statements to the government.


His plea deal calls for 18 to 24 months behind bars.
