Kathleen Rice’s campaign aide disciplined for racial jokes

A campaign worker hired to boost Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice’s chances for the congressional seat held by Rep. Carolyn McCarthy routinely makes sexist and racially insensitive comments on Twitter, sources told The Post.

Zach Tierney has been tasked with recruiting field staffers who can forge relationships with the black and Latino communities in the Long Island.

But Tierney, 22, has a history of tweeting controversial messages under the handle “Brotis Redding.”

His latest tweet from July 11 included this observation: “There are more Dominican girls walking over the 145th st bridge right now than there are girls in the Dominican Republic.”

“When white tourists watch 4 black people walk by then stop you to ask how to buy a metrocard you’re supposed to tell them it’s $ 50 right?” he tweeted on March 28.

“These were stupid, insensitive attempts at sarcasm and parody by a young staff member,” said campaign spokesperson Eric Phillips.

“The campaign was unaware of these tweets, and the staff member has been disciplined.”
