Corrections officers mistakenly sent a former intern accused of molesting students at a posh Manhattan preschool back to jail Wednesday when he was supposed to get sprung on bail.
Malthe Thomsen, 22, was slated to be released after his parents, who flew in from Copenhagen, posted his $ 400,000 bond.
But corrections officials said they couldn’t find him when it came time for his appearance in Manhattan Supreme Court.
Thomsen’s parents, lawyer, and bail bondsmen Ira Judelson waited all day for the accused molester in court to fit him with an electronic monitoring device and take him home.
Finally, around 4 p.m., a court officer informed them that he had been accidentally sent back to Riker’s Island on a bus.
“We’re very sorry for him because he is not informed about anything,” said his mom Brigitte Thomsen. “Nobody knows where he is and he’s frightened.”
Judelson and Thomsen’s family headed to the jail to try to have the preschool teacher released Wednesday night.
Thomsen started working at the International Preschool in Midtown in February and was arrested June 27 for allegedly forcing several tykes to touch his genitals over his clothing, according to court papers.
The school’s internal investigation couldn’t corroborate any of the vile allegations made by an assistant teacher who has since been fired, state the papers.
He has pleaded not guilty and his parents insist their son is innocent.
Thomsen was placed in protective custody after receiving death threat s from other inmates, his lawyer, Jane Fisher-Byrialsen said Wednesday.
He faces 15 counts of felony sex abuse.
