Mayor Attends OEM Meeting to Prepare for Super-Storms

Mayor Bill de Blasio attended a meeting to the get the city ready for future storms like Hurricane Sandy.

He was surrounded by members of different government agencies, including the newly-appointed Office of Emergency Management chief Joseph Esposito.

The mayor says planning and communication across all city agencies is key to avoiding the problems the city faced after Sandy.

That includes removing a lot of the red tape involved in carrying out responses.

De Blasio says climate change has made it difficult for the city to get ahead of its vulnerabilities.

He called New York the ultimate coastal city, and says that extreme weather is now a part of its landscape.
