Governor Andrew Cuomo and state delegates have wrapped up their tour in Israel where they assured leaders that New York will always stand by the country.
Cuomo met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and newly-elected president Revuen Rivlin on Wednesday.
He told the leaders that New York stands in “total solidarity” with Israel in the Gaza conflict and Israeli citizens say they’re excited about his visit.
While the visit only times out to about 36 hours, leaders they say the influence is long-lasting.
“Well I’m not that big of a world traveler, and I think that this is going to be my last trip for awhile you know I’m nervous what happens when I leave this state. That’s by the way why I bring the legislative leaders with me, I feel a little safer,” Cuomo said.
“Just as you wouldn’t put America and ISIS on the same world plane, you’d never put Israel and Hamas on the same world plane,” Netanyahu said.
After meeting with Israeli leaders, the “unity group” as it calls itself, visited the Western Wall.
They did not visit with Palestinian leaders.
