ATM thieves busted after blowing red light

Not so fast.

Two crooks in a rush to escape a crime scene — in which they yanked an ATM out of the ground in Brooklyn — were caught on camera after they blew a red light that snapped a photo of their getaway ride, police sources said.

One of the dimwitted thieves tied a chain around the cash machine and fastened it to a black Cadillac Escalade before his driver hit the gas near Wythe Avenue and South 8th Street in Williamsburg at around 2 a.m. Tuesday, the sources said.

In a panic, the driver dragged money machine on the street behind them as they made the sloppy getaway — in which he ran a red light near the BQE entrance just minutes later, the police sources said.

A camera set up for ticketing rule-breaking drivers snapped an image of the SUV’s license plate, tipping off police who are were investigating on Tuesday afternoon.

“It was dragging … There was a big hole where the ATM machine was, anyone could have come inside the store,” said Rosanna Gomez,29, a worker who viewed the surveillance tapes.

She added, “It was two men. The man who put the chain around the ATM was wearing a hat. He was about 200 pounds. The other guy I couldn’t see because he was driving the car.”

The crooks failed to snatch the ATM on the first try.

“They tried once, but the chain broke or something. They tried again, and then they got it,” Gomez said.

Footage from a surveillance camera near the The Bridge Deli and Grocery captured an image of the car.
