Pregnant teen assaults bus driver in fare dispute

A pregnant straphanger assaulted an MTA bus driver on a Brooklyn bus Saturday morning, police sources said.

Natasha Lawson, 19, boarded the bus at Troy Avenue and Kings Highway around 7:30 a.m. but was $ 1.75 shy of the fare, police sources said.

Lawson tried to strike a bargain with driver Jenny Castillo, asking Castillo to take her halfway, to Nostrand Avenue.

When Castillo, 36, refused, Lawson boldly strode to the back of the bus and started to harass a handful of elderly passengers, an MTA source said.

Castillo intervened, ordering Lawson off the bus, sources said.

That’s when Lawson, who is three months pregnant, punched and scratched the driver in the face and pulled her hair, police sources said.

Riders held the mom-to-be down as cops responded to the assault in progress, police sources said.

Castillo was treated for minor injuries at Beth Israel Hospital and Lawson underwent an evaluation at the same hospital.
