A Manhattan accountant got flattened by a musclebound former “American Gladiator” on a bike as she jogged through Central Park, a new lawsuit claims.
Angela Coppa says top Manhattan triathalon trainer Scott Berlinger, who for two seasons competed on the “American Gladiators” TV show as bad-boy ”Viper,” wasn’t looking where he was going when he barreled into her while speeding through Central Park on his racing bike, a new lawsuit charges.
The 47-year-old CPA says in her Manhattan Supreme Court suit that Berlinger was riding “in reckless disregard for the safety and welfare of others … did not use reasonable care while riding … [and] failed to keep a proper lookout [or] yield to pedestrians.”
Berlinger — whose bad-boy TV character was best known for an incident during his 1992-93 run on the show when he ran into the audience and ripped up a banner reading, “Viper needs a diaper” — smacked into Coppa around 6:30 a.m. on July 30, 2012, the suit states.
Berlinger wasn’t paying attention to traffic signals when he hit Coppa, 31, of Midtown, who was injured and is seeking unspecified monetary damages, the suit says.
The accountant, who works at Cerberus Capital Management, said in court papers that Berlinger was racing around the park loop as part of his head coach duties for the Chelsea Piers-based training program Full Throttle Cycles.
Coppa declined to comment on her injuries or the pending case.
Berlinger, a resident of rural Sherman, Conn., did not immediately return requests for comment.
His team has bagged four USA Triathlon Championships.
