Police launched a manhunt in East Williamsburg early Monday after a man armed with a rifle fired shots at police.

NYPD units flooded the vicinity of Morgan Ave. and Grand St. as reports began coming over the police scanner shortly after midnight of a man armed with a rifle.

A Daily News reporter who arrived on scene about 1 a.m. Monday noted a significant police response in the vicinity of Morgan Ave. and Grand St. A police source on the scene confirmed that a male suspect had fired at police.

“He was shooting at us,” the source said.

It was not immediately clear if anyone was shot.

Cops at the scene said a man was found in a building on Maujer St. dead of what appeared to have been a “self-inflicted” gunshot wound to the head. The dead man was suspected of having been the shooter, but that could not be immediately confirmed.
