Ronaldo Perez, 33, confronted Carolina Cobena, 29, in the 52nd Avenue apartment at around 1:50 a.m. Tuesday after a long night of drinking with his pals, cops said.

Perez allegedly came home drunk and grabbed a stack of cash and a 9mm firearm from a closet before the duo started arguing, police said.

Cobena then slapped the cash out of his hand before Perez unloaded two bullets into her head, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said.

Perez later told investigators he was kneeling down to pick up the cash with one hand and accidentally discharged the weapon with the other, sources said.

Cobena was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital Center, where she was pronounced dead, authorities said.

Perez is not believed to be the father of the little boy who was hiding out in another room. The child was left unharmed.

Perez has been charged with murder and criminal use of a firearm, cops said.
