A Brooklyn mom severely injured after being dragged up seven floors by a defective elevator was duped out of a $ 221,000 legal settlement — by her own greedy brother, a new Brooklyn federal lawsuit alleges.
Debra Jordan, 50, was visiting a patient at SUNY Downstate Medical Center on Christmas Day in 2010 when a set of elevator doors suddenly closed on her as she entered.
With her arm and leg dangling out of the elevator, the screaming woman was pulled up several flights as her horrified daughter looked on helplessly.
After almost bleeding to death, Jordan managed to survive but suffered severe mutilation to her arm and leg and is now forced to use a wheelchair, according to court papers.
After a protracted legal fight, Jordan won a settlement from the hospital.
That’s when, out of the blue, Jordan’s older brother, Lennox Paul, of Maryland, reappeared in her life.
“Prior to the incident, defendant had very little contact with the plaintiff and did not assist the plaintiff financially when she requested his help,” states Jordan’s suit, filed Tuesday against her brother Paul.
But Paul apparently developed a keen interest in his sister’s well-being after hearing of her accident and subsequent settlement.
He began telling her that he was an investment guru and that she should place her money in his good hands, according to the suit.
Paul did not return a call for comment.
