Robinson Cano has teamed up with Rihanna, among others, in support of UNICEF’s “There for the Philippines” effort to bring relief to children and families affected by Typhoon Haiyan.

Cano, a free agent currently negotiating with the Yankees, is represented, in part, by Jay Z, who is close to Rihanna. Cano’s agents have been trying to portray him as a ballplayer with appeal beyond just the baseball field.

In this charitable endeavor, he’s got some big-name teammates. In addition to Rihanna, actress Vanesssa Hudgens and WNBA player Skyler Diggins are participating, too, according to a UNICEF press release.

UNICEF — United Nations Children’s Fund — works in more than 190 countries.
