Cops probe another ‘knockout’ attack

A man was sucker-punched in the head Wednesday in The Bronx in what may have been the latest in a series of “knockout” attacks, cops said.

The 23-year-old victim was at West 167th Street and Nelson Avenue at about 5:15 p.m. when three men sneaked up from behind and one slugged him in the head, according to police.

A witness said the victim was outside a bodega when he was “whapped” on the back of the head and collapsed.

“He fell like he got shot,” said the witness, who declined to reveal his name.

Police were canvassing the neighborhood for three Hispanic males who allegedly took part.

Cops said it was possible that the incident was related to the string of “knockout” incidents where a victim is targeted and punched by young thugs.

Since October, at least eight suspected knockout attacks have been reported.

The game has been fueled by social media, with the assailants boasting of their attacks online and posting Internet videos of the assaults.
