Midtown Crane That Malfunctioned Last Month Has Been Dismantled, City Says

A construction crane that malfunctioned in Midtown Manhattan last month has now been dismantled.

The city’s Office of Emergency Management confirmed that as of 2 a.m. Sunday, the crane on a luxury skyscraper on West 57th Street between Sixth Avenue and Seventh Avenue has been completely removed.

The crane became a subject of concern after a scary incident last month, in which a seven-ton block was left dangling precariously 21 stories above the street.

Another crane at the same construction site also collapsed during Hurricane Sandy.
