A former student at Horace Mann (pictured) won a legal victory when a judge denied the school’s application to dismiss his sexual abuse complaint.
An ex-Horace Mann student won a legal victory in a lawsuit charging he was sexually abused on hundreds of occasions by a teacher at the elite prep school.
A Bergen County Superior Court judge denied an application by the well-known Bronx school to dismiss the complaint brought by a school alumnus identified only as “John Doe.”

The Friday decision cleared the way for additional arguments over whether New York or New Jersey law will apply in the case.
The plaintiff claims that he was abused approximately 450 times in the 1970s by teacher Johannes Somary on school property in the Bronx, at locations in New Jersey and various other places in Europe and the United States.
