Police: Man Shot in Leg in Bronx After Allegedly Pointing Gun at Officer

A man was shot in the leg Saturday night after police say he pointed a gun at an officer.

It happened in the Belmont section of the Bronx at around 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

The New York City Police Department says that officers saw 22-year-old Jayson Ramos pointing a gun at three people after hearing an argument outside of a restaurant on 187th Street.

A picture of that gun can be seen above, according to police.

Officers told Ramos to put it down, and that’s when they say he ran.

The chase continued down the block until officers say Ramos turned and pointed the gun at them.

One officer opened fire, striking the suspect in the leg, according to police.

Officers say Ramos tried to run again, but didn’t get far.

Ramos is facing multiple weapon and reckless endangerment charges.

First responders took him to the hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
