An upstate truck driver pleaded guilty to aggravated harassment Wednesday for calling in death threats to Rep. Carolyn Maloney over her proposed gun-owner-liability-insurance legislation in a plea deal with Manhattan prosecutors.
Gun fanatic Ronald Buchanan, 41, of Elmira, admitted to making five anonymous calls to Maloney’s office in Queens April 2nd of 2013.
“[T]hat stupid c–t needs to stay away from my Second Amendment rights,” he yelled, according to court papers. “I want that bitch dead.”
As part of the deal, the father of four must serve ten days in jail, one year probation and enroll in an anger management program.
The calls, traced to Buchanan’s cell phone and land line, were fielded by two young interns and an assistant.
One of them warned Buchanan that his threats would be reported to the authorities but that only enraged him further, the complaint states.
“I will f—ing kill that bitch if I see her,” Buchanan warned. “I don’t care if I have to go to every single speech she makes and heckle her.”
Maloney’s plans to sponsor legislation requiring liability insurance for gun owners sparked the hateful tirades, prosecutors said.
Buchanan will be formally sentenced Sept 15th.
