Republican mayoral contender Joe Lhota continued to pound away at his Democratic opponent Bill de Blasio as the race’s only “soulless” candidate Saturday.
“He changed his position in the same sentence,” Lhota said, referring to de Blasio’s stance on a court-ordered monitor for the NYPD. “To me, that’s soul-less.”
Lhota — who appeared at the German-American Steuben Parade on the Upper East Side and an Oktoberfest event in Central Park yesterday — also groused about the media’s coverage of the fund-raising gap between he and de Blasio and said he’s well on his way to meeting his goals.
“I have large fund-raising events scheduled,” he said. “Including a fund-raising event for my birthday.”
Lhota questioned de Blasio’s absence at the events.
“I have marched in every ethnic parade,” he said. “One of the things that I love about New York is the diversity. We are all American, but people understand their heritage. “
De Blasio had no public schedule for Saturday and could not be reached for comment.
