A 3-year-old girl brought 14 bags of pot to a day care center in Harlem.
A 3-year-old girl came to a Harlem day care center with 14 bags of marijuana stuffed in her pink Minnie Mouse backpack — and now her cousin’s in custody, cops said Friday.
The drug stash, described by police as “substantial” was found packaged in six sandwich-sized bags, as well as some freezer bags, according to officials.
The child’s cousin put the weed in her backpack before she went to the Early Life school on W. 147th St. near Eighth Ave., police sources said.
The unidentified relative was in police custody Friday evening, sources said.
Charges were pending.
Teachers at the Early Life school called police at 1 p.m. after they noticed that the child was reeking of marijuana.
Responding officers found the drugs in the child’s backpack, officials aid.
Police said the girl was questioned and returned to her parents.
The W. 147th St. center is one of ten day care centers in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and the Bronx. Peter Anzalone, executive director for Early Childhood Education at Lutheran Social Services of New York, which runs the Early Life Centers, would not comment on Friday’s discovery “out of respect for the family and the ongoing investigation.”
