A small dog is dead and his owner is hospitalized after a pit bull attack Friday on Staten Island.
Dionis Rembeci’s family says a large pit bull attacked him and his 1-year-old dog, Fluffy in West Brighton Friday.
The shih tzu was bitten on the neck and killed.
Rembeci suffered a scrape to the leg and fainted from shock.
He was treated at Staten Island University Hospital.
His son says Fluffy never harmed a soul.

“He was the most friendly dog, smart,” Albano Rembeci said. “He was playful at all times, and it was just unfortunate for this to happen.”
“I feel bad for the pit bulls because they really look like they were well taken care of,” said neighbor Zoraida Rivera. “I don’t know how they get to be that vicious with other puppies, but I think they shouldn’t be in the neighborhood.”
The pit bull is being held by animal control on 10 days’ rabies watch.
Its owners say it escaped their property through a back gate.
