A federal judge is backing the owners of Zuccotti Park in a lawsuit filed over the police crackdown on the Occupy Wall Street encampment.
The decision says Brookfield Office Properties can’t be held liable for any civil rights violations that may have occurred during the police action in 2011.
The judge ruled that the New York City Police Department, not the company, was responsible for making decisions about who to arrest and detain as they cleared the park of protesters.
The city and police are still considered defendants in the suit.
