Police Arrest Man Wanted For Ex-Girlfriend’s Alleged Shooting Death In Brownsville

Police have arrested the man wanted for allegedly shooting his ex-girlfriend to death on September 18 after sending her daughters out to buy food.

Officials say 40-year-old Eric McCormick was taken into custody by New York Police Department officers at a house in upstate Hurleyville Thursday night.

Police say McCormick refused orders to come out of the house, and that officers entered the home after hearing gunshots.

Officials say it appears McCormick shot himself in the head, but he is expected to survive.

Once he is medically cleared, police say McCormick will be brought back to the city.

Police say a surveillance video shows McCormick walking to Sellis Gonzales’ apartment in Brownsville on the day of the incident.

They say right before the shooting, McCormick sent Gonzales’ two young daughters to a local restaurant.

When they returned, the daughters found their mother on the floor with multiple gunshot wounds to the head and torso.

She was pronounced dead at the hospital.
