Airbnb.com has gained quite a following — and the company wants to get into the New York market.

The airline travel service Airbnb scored a major victory Thursday after a New York man was cleared of wrongdoing for renting out his East Village bed.

The city Environmental Control Board reversed a decision to stick Nigel Warren with a $ 2,400 fine. Warren rented out the bedroom in his apartment for three nights while he was out of town.

City regulators had fined the 30-year-old for breaking the law against short-term rentals. But the board agreed that since Warren’s roommate was present during the Airbnb guests’ stay, the visit was legal.
