More than 6,500 workers did not receive their full pay on time and nearly 32,000 workers were underpaid or given inaccurate pay stubs, said state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman.
ALBANY — Utility giant National Grid will pay nearly $ 5 million to thousands of workers who were shortchanged by the company after Hurricane Sandy, state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman announced Thursday.
The power company was in the process of reworking its payroll system when the storm struck and failed to properly account for employee hours, Schneiderman said.

More than 6,500 workers did not receive their full pay on time, and Schneiderman found nearly 32,000 incidents of employees being underpaid or given inaccurate pay stubs.
“Some of the affected employees in this case reported that they were unable to repair their own homes after the storm because of National Grid’s underpayments,” Schneiderman said.
