NY1 asked some New Yorkers in Brownsville, Brooklyn what they think about the House’s proposal to cut nearly $ 4 billion a year from the food stamps program.
“It’s supposed to be like a temporary thing, until you get back on your feet, but then people just take advantage of it, and be on for more than their limit,” one New Yorker said.
“It is abused,” said another New Yorker. “I think that it’s easy for people to think that people shouldn’t be getting food stamps, but at the same time, it’s not that easy. It should be more strict, but no, it’s important, and that’s too much of a cut.”
President Obama is vowing to veto the House bill if it ever reaches his desk.
