Woman Shot, Killed In Brownsville Apartment; Police Seek Boyfriend

Police are searching for a man after they say his girlfriend was found shot dead in her Brooklyn apartment.

First responders found 46-year-old Sellis Gonzales with multiple wounds to the head and abdomen Wednesday night.

She was rushed to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Investigators say right before the shooting, Gonzales’ boyfriend sent her 9- and 5-year-old daughters to the store.

When they returned, they found their mother laying on the floor.

The ex-boyfriend left the Brownsville apartment before they arrived.

“We obviously want to talk to the individual who was there,” said Police Commissioner Ray Kelly. “His name is Montgomery, and we’re looking to speak to him.”

“It’s extremely unfortunate. That’s crazy,” said neighbor Suzzette Alonzo. “I can’t believe that anyone would do that to their spouse and the mother of their children.”

The man is believed to be the father of the younger child.

Anyone with information on the case should contact the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS, or text CRIMES and then enter TIP577, or visit www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.
