Mariano Rivera is not the only longtime Yankee pitcher who will be retiring at the end of this season.
Andy Pettitte announced on Friday that this will be his final season.
The 41-year-old also retired at the end of the 2010 season, but came back to the team last year.
In a statement, Pettitte thanked his fans and said, “I want to have the opportunity to tip my cap to them during these remaining days and thank them for making my time here with the Yankees so special.”
The three-time all-star holds the major league record for most career postseason wins with 19.
He helped the Yankees to five World Series titles.
He’s third on the team’s all-time wins list with 218.
He’s scheduled to make his last Yankee Stadium start Sunday, which is also the day the team plans to honor Rivera in a pregame ceremony.
His final start would then come in Houston, where he also pitched for three seasons.
