Police in Brooklyn shot a man who lunged at them with a knife this afternoon, sources said.
The officers had just pulled up at the scene of a harassment call at a Hart Street apartment building near Irving Avenue in Bushwick at around 3 p.m. when a man at that location charged their police car with a knife in his hand.
The officers pulled up the block to get away from the crazed man, who then threw a bottle at the car, causing them to continue rolling up the block.
That’s when both cops got out of the car to confront the man, who again lunged at them with the knife, causing one of the officers to fire several shots, striking the suspect in the chest.
The man was taken to Woodhull Hospital. His condition is unknown at this time.
