A 22-year-old man is dead after a police involved shooting in Brooklyn.
According to sources, police responded to an alleged threat or attack on Hart Street at Wyckoff Avenue in Bushwick just after 3 p.m. Monday.
According to police, a 22-year-old man with a knife approached the patrol car and started banging on the window with the weapon. Officers tactically kept on driving and drove around onto Irving Avenue.
The man with the knife, according to police, then threw a bottle at a taxi cab. Officers approached him and told him to drop the knife. He then lunged at officers, according to police.
One of the officers opened fire, striking the man in the torso and the hand.
He was transported to Woodhull Hospital, where he later died.
“No, we all heard five. So he got shot five times in the chest,” said a woman at the scene. “He was on the floor, yes, and the floor was full of blood.”
Police said the man who was killed lives at the address they were responding to. It is unclear if he has a history with law enforcement. Police are still investigating.
