Numerous Twitter postings reported the mall was under lockdown and the gunman was roaming the mall firing what appeared to be an assault weapon.
Cops were converging on the Westfield Garden State Plaza shopping center in New Jersey Monday night after numerous reports of a gunman opening fire.
Police in Paramus confirmed they were investigating the reports of a gunman in body armor firing at the largest mall in the Garden State.
There was immediate confirmation on whether anyone had been killed or wounded in the incident, which reportedly began about 9:45 p.m.
