Almost all the English teachers at Brooklyn Technical High School are protesting New York City’s new English tests that are part of teacher evaluations.
Nearly every member of elite Brooklyn Technical High School’s English department has signed a letter protesting the new city English tests given as part of this year’s teacher evaluations.
The city allowed the essay tests to be given over two days, meanings kids could compare notes, the 26 teachers said.

The grading took teachers their free period every day for three weeks, plus a day that was supposed to be devoted to improving their craft.
The Brooklyn Tech teachers also say the tests weren’t that good.
“It’s sort of like with health care,” teacher Danny Schott said. “I like [President Barack] Obama a lot, but if they’re going to change the way people deal with health care, you better do it right. I think it’s like that.”
