Officials said water from the hydrant flowed into a manhole above the station, causing delays on the 42 St. Shuttle between Grand Central and Times Square.




A broken fire hydrant gushing water above Manhattan’s Grand Central Station led to spotty service on the shuttle train Saturday morning, according to the MTA and city officials.


Officials said water from the hydrant flowed into a manhole above the station, causing delays on the 42 St. Shuttle between Grand Central and Times Square.


The city’s Department of Environmental Protection shut off the water going to the fire hydrant by noon, officials said.
