Ms. Bloomberg and her boyfriend, Ramiro Quintana, welcomed a son, Jasper Michael Brown Quintana, at 4:34 p.m. on Tuesday in New York City. He weighed 7.7 pounds.
The new mother and the baby were “doing great,” according to Ms. Bloomberg’s publicist, Dana Gidney Fetaya.
The mayor, who leaves office next week, had been eagerly awaiting the baby’s arrival.
“I’m thrilled and just so proud of Georgina,” Mr. Bloomberg said in a statement. “They are going to make really wonderful parents and what an incredible way to start the New Year.”
He said last week in a radio interview that he did not think the baby would be named after him, but it appeared that he was honored, after all, by the baby’s middle name.
Ms. Bloomberg and Mr. Quintana are professional equestrians. Ms. Bloomberg, 30, the younger of Mr. Bloomberg’s two daughters, has also co-written four novels and is on the Bloomberg Family Foundation board.
