Woman Dies After Being Struck Twice in Brooklyn Intersection

A 32-year-old Brooklyn woman is dead and a driver charged after she was hit by a car and a truck Sunday night.

Police say Nicole Detweiler was crossing McGuinness Boulevard at Nassau Avenue in Greenpoint around 5:30 p.m. when she was hit.

They say she was first hit by a BMW, then a box truck.

One witness tells NY1 the area has been plagued with accidents.

“They have no regard for the pedestrians at all. You’re given a limited amount of time and the cars just keep on going. They go through the lights. I’ve seen countless accidents, people killed,” said one Greenpoint resident.

“I called 911 and then I peeked through the window and I saw somebody lying there and she didn’t look like she was breathing. I stood by and watched. The cops came to secure the crime scene, then the ambulances came,” said one witness.

Both drivers remained at the scene.

The driver of the truck, Roberto Amador of Manhattan, was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation.
