De Blasio to get presidential treatment at inauguration

Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio has chosen his former boss, President Bill Clinton, to swear him in Jan. 1.

Hillary Clinton — also a former boss of de Blasio’s — is expected to attend the City Hall steps swearing-in as well.

“Chirlane and I couldn’t be more excited to have President Clinton and Secretary Clinton stand with us,” de Blasio said in a Saturday press release, referring to his wife, Chirlane McCray.

“Wednesday’s ceremony will be an event for every New Yorker from all five boroughs.”

De Blasio, who will become the city’s 109th mayor, served as a regional director at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development under Clinton during his presidency. He then took a job as Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager for her successful Senate run in 2000.

Neither Clinton endorsed him during the tough Democratic primary for mayor, but both backed him during the general election against Republican Joe Lhota.

De Blasio plans to place his hand on a loaner bible once owned by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

The ceremony, which is open to the public, is scheduled to begin at noon and will last about an hour. The 1,000 tickets for the event were offered to the public for free, but were soon snatched up and put up for sale online.
