Bloomberg Thanks New Yorkers in Final Radio Address

With just a couple of days left in office, Mayor Michael Bloomberg is looking back at his time in City Hall.

The soon-to-be former mayor delivered his final weekly radio address Sunday morning on 1010 WINS.

In it, he thanked New Yorkers for giving him a chance to lead the city in the aftermath of the September 11th attacks.

“I hired the most talented and hard-working people, no matter what party they belonged to, and gave them the freedom to come up with innovative new ways to improve life in our city,” Bloomberg said. “Whether you agreed or disagreed with us on any particular issue, you knew the decisions our administration made were based on the facts as we understood them and the principles we held, not on campaign contributions or political calculations.”

Bloomberg finished his final address by saying that for the past 12 years, he woke up each morning thinking about how he could make the city stronger, safer, healthier and more compassionate.

Now, when he wakes up on Wednesday, according to the mayor, he’ll know he did everything he could to achieve those goals.
