Former Brinks guard Hugh Reyes was terminated for ‘legitimate and nondiscriminatory reasons,’ a panel of judges ruled Friday.
An ex-Brinks guard whose epic blunder caused a four-hour lockout at the company’s fortress-like facility in Queens was fired for good reason — not because of racial discrimination, a panel of judges ruled Friday.
Hugh Reyes, a retired NYPD cop, said he was feeling dizzy and stepped outside the “turret” or command center that controls all entry and exit from the facility which stores millions of dollars in cash, gold and other valuable property for Brinks customers.

Reyes attempted to prop open the magnetized door with a newspaper but it slammed shut, locking him and everyone else out of the facility on Memorial Day in 2009, according to court papers.
Because it was a holiday, it took more than four hours to find a locksmith who was able to gain entry to the headquarters, based near Kennedy Airport.

Reyes was fired over the incident but filed a lawsuit against Brinks alleging his dismissal was retaliation for previously complaining that a white supervisor discriminated against minority employees.
“They turned it into a more serious incident than it was,” Reyes, 70, told the Daily News on Friday.

Reyes said he was just seeking fresh air so he didn’t faint.
Reyes’ suit was thrown out of Queens Supreme Court and the panel agreed that he was terminated for “legitimate and nondiscriminatory reasons.”
