For many in the city, it’s not really beginning to feel a lot like Christmas because of unusually warm record-setting weather.
Holiday displays, last-minute shoppers and, a packed skating rink at Rockefeller Center are all festive with season decorations and music and holiday cheer, but all-time temperature highs this weekend have people wondering what nature is up to.
“It’s ridiculous how warm it is,” said one person. “Yesterday was the first day of winter. It’s, like, 60 degrees. It feels so un-Christmas-like.”
“It is fabulous. It’s so much nicer to wear a lightweight coat or a jacket and not have to worry about snow or rain or cold,” said another. “I came down here one time and I absolutely froze.”
“It’s too warm, and it should be snowing and cold for Christmas,” said a third.
For the second straight day, a temperature record was set in Central Park, with the mercury hitting 70 degrees at one point.
