Firefighters worked with City Meals on Wheels to serve up some holiday cheer to homebound New Yorkers on Christmas.
For the fifth year in a row, members of New York’s Bravest teamed up with City Meals on Wheels to deliver some of the agency’s “Season Greetings” meal boxes.
The festive meals come complete with poinsettias and holiday cards made by school kids.
“It is exactly what the holidays are all about. These guys taking their time doing something nice delivering a meal, having a brief conversation,” said Beth Shapiro, executive director of Citymeals on Wheels.
“The fact that these people might not have visitors or a warm meal, the fact that we can offer our time and work with Citymeals to do something like this is just great,” said Daniel Glover of the FNDY.
City Meals delivered nearly 16,000 of the special holiday boxes.
