A drunken coke fiend tried to bribe cops with $ 50,000 and “expensive watches from a safe in my house” if they would drive him home instead of cuffing him for driving while intoxicated, Manhattan court papers state.
Alcides Gonzabay, 35, offered cops the bribe after they found the White Plains man passed out in his Audi with the motor running on an Upper West Side street at 2:10 p.m. on February 9, according to his criminal complaint.
The booze hound was quick to come clean about the booze he chugged before cops found him.
“I was drinking tequila, a big bottle,” Gonzabay told cops, according to his complaint. “I took coke before I drove … I was drinking on the highway. I’m not going to lie to you.”
Gonazabay tried to bribe the cops after a test revealed his blood alcohol level was a staggering .29.
“I will give you a lot of money if you will let me go. If you send me home I will give you $ 40,000. I don’t want my mother to see me in a cell,” Gonzabay said, according to his complaint.
“I will pay you $ 50,000 and expensive watches from a safe in my house if you take me home and drop off my car.”
Cops also found an open bottle of Captain Morgan’s rum and two bottles of wine in the front seat of the Audi.
Gonzabay was so drunk cops had to take him to Saint Luke’s Hospital before he could be booked, cops said.
He was charged with five counts of bribery, felony driving under the influence, and driving with a suspended license – and was released on $ 10,000 bail on February 10, cops said.
His license had been suspended for driving drunk, his complaint states.
