The first active openly gay player of any of the four major North American pro sports leagues will play in Brooklyn.
The Nets announced Sunday afternoon that they signed free agent Jason Collins to a 10-day contract.
Collins will be available for Sunday night’s game against the Lakers in Los Angeles.
Collins hasn’t played in the NBA this season.
He last played for both Boston and Washington last year.
The 34-year-old played with the Nets previously during their time in New Jersey, helping the team to the NBA Finals twice.
Collins publicly announced that he was gay in May of last year.
