The show must go on.
A 37 year-old man plunged to his death Friday from the W hotel, landing on the Lunt Fontanne Theatre, where he remained until Saturday morning.
Workers said they heard a loud noise moments before “Motown the Musical” began.
“Everybody heard a thump. They thought it was an explosion. It shook the chandelier,” a worker said.
“They jumped up, it scared them,” a second worker said.
The play started at 7:30 p.m.
“The box office workers heard it and [they] were waiting for everybody to start running out,” the worker said.
But no one did.
The lifeless body wasn’t discovered until around 7 a.m. Saturday, when a tourist getting her morning work at the hotel’s 10th floor gym-which overlooks the theater’s rooftop on Broadway near 46th Street–spotted the corpse and called hotel security.
Police responded to the scene this morning and the crime scene is still active.
