Jets RB Chris Ivory runs straight into the path of multiple Ravens defenders.
It appears opposing defenses have taken notice of the Jets’ desire to run the ball. Gang Green opened Sunday’s 19-3 loss to the Ravens with an ultra-conservative game plan, with Geno Smith attempting just six passes in the first half. Gang Green ran the ball 15 times in that half for an average of 3.1 yards per carry.
Willie Colon said he noticed teams assigning more players to stop the run or blitz as a result.
“They are stacking the box on us,” the offensive guard said. “We’ve kind of become a one-trick pony so to speak right now. It just is what it is.”

Colon said he didn’t know how to fix it, except that “whatever we need to do, we need to execute at a high level.”
The Jets totaled just 220 yards on Sunday, their lowest total of the season.

Gang Green is tied with six teams in the AFC at 5-6, and no longer would make the playoffs if the season ended now. With the Jets set to square off against another one of those 5-6 teams, the Dolphins, this week, David Nelson said the game is a must-win.
“I think so,” Nelson said. “Right now, we’re at the bottom of that sixth seed. A loss would kind of put us extremely below that.”
NOTHING TO BRACE FOR

Muhammad Wilkerson was wearing a brace on his right hand Monday, but said he was fine. Asked what the brace was for, Wilkerson said sarcastically, “bowling.”
Wilkerson noted that the defense only went over three plays in its walkthrough Monday, two of which were the long passes to Torrey Smith and Jacoby Jones. The third was a read-option error, Wilkerson said, though Rex Ryan later noted that the 27-yard completion to Ed Dickson, in which he bounced off an Ed Reed tackle, bothered him as well.
When Nick Mangold’s shotgun snap hit Greg Salas in motion on Sunday, the fumble was originally assigned to Geno Smith. On Monday, that fumble was charged to Mangold, reducing Smith’s turnovers for the season to 22.
