MTA Bridge And Tunnel Officer Critical After Being Hit By Car While On Duty


An Metropolitan Transportation Authority bridge and tunnel officer is fighting for his life after he was hit by a car while on duty Sunday morning.


The MTA says 61-year-old Thomas Choi was moving barrels to reopen the lower level of the Verrazano Bridge when he was hit by a Nissan Maxima.


Choi suffered severe pelvic and head injuries.


He was unconscious when taken to the hospital, where he’s in critical condition.


The driver remained on the scene.


Choi has been with the MTA Bridges and Tunnels for more than 10 years.
