Sandy Recovery Gets Boost With $1.34 Billion In Federal Grant Money

The city’s ongoing Hurricane Sandy relief and recovery efforts got a boost Monday with the earmark of $ 1.34 billion in federal grant money.

City and federal officials gathered at New York University to announce the second round of funding.

A combined $ 5 billion in aid is going to five states in the Northeast.

Out of that, $ 1.34 billion will go to the city.

The latest funding comes nine months after the city received an initial nearly $ 2 billion in Hurricane Sandy-related aid.

It will come in the form of Community Development Block Grants, which the city will now dispense to meet some critical post-storm needs.

New Jersey will take in $ 1.8 billion during this second round of funding.
