Queens Democrats stick together — even when they are hundreds of miles apart.
Gov. Cuomo is endorsing Melinda Katz for Queens Borough President in the November general election.

The move is far from surprising, but Katz’s camp is still hailing support from the Holliswood-raised Cuomo as significant.
Katz, a former member of the state Assembly and City Council, is facing Republican Tony Arcabascio in November.

She is considered the favorite in the race in the overwhelmingly Democratic borough after defeating City Councilman Peter Vallone Jr. in a bitter and expensive primary battle.
“Melinda’s exactly the kind of leader working families need in office to build on the progress our state has made over the past three years,” Cuomo said in a statement. “On issues ranging from transportation to healthcare, she has the right ideas to expand economic opportunity and improve quality of life for all New Yorkers.”
Cuomo stayed mum for the primary contests but has emerged in recent days to back Tom Suozzi’s bid to re-gain the post of Nassau County Executive, and says he will endorse other Democratic candidates for the general election.
